US-based Generali Global Assistance (GGA) has launched a new product, Iris, through which it hopes to further strengthen its identity protection services. The new, customisable services, designed specifically for the travel industry, were unveiled at the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) 2016 Convention on 18 July.

With international travellers often accessing data via unsecured sources, there is an elevated risk of identity theft as items such as mobile devices and wallets can be lost and fall into the wrong hands, noted GGA. Via Iris’ travel services and award winning team, GGA can both offer prevention services, and also repair problems quickly and easily.

Iris boasts a multilingual team that offers round-the-clock services to more than 25 million people in Fortune 500 companies and some of the largest organisations in the insurance industry.

Services include liaising with local authorities, filing international police reports, securing emergency cash in local currencies, contacting embassies, translating official documents, cancelling lost or stolen credit cards and direct purchasing of transportation tickets and hotel accommodations. Additionally, an innovative digital privacy protection software can be downloaded to minimise risk of identity theft when travelling and using unsecured networks.

“We are extremely proud to have formally launched our Iris OnWatch Identity Protection Platform today, as well as to highlight our services designed specifically for the travel industry,” said Paige Schaffer, president and COO of Generali Global Assistance’s Identity and Digital Protection Services Global Unit. “National and international travel is fraught with identity theft risks, and as such our goal is to provide businesses with the tools to allow their customers and employees peace of mind while away from home.”
