Generali Global Assistance Promotes Identity Protection as National Cyber Security Awareness Month Partner
20 October 2017Company presents at National Cyber Security Alliance and Nasdaq Cybersecurity Summit
Bethesda, Md. – October 20, 2017 – Generali Global Assistance (“GGA” or “the Company”), a leader in the assistance industry since its founding in 1963, part of the multinational Generali Group, and the developer of a proprietary and innovative identity and digital protection platform, announced its support of National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) this October through a variety of partnership initiatives with the National Cyber Security Alliance and other organizations. NCSAM is dedicated to educating consumers and organizations on the need for better cybersecurity and identity protection in today’s highly-connected world.
As part of its NCSAM efforts, Generali Global Assistance presented at the National Cyber Security Alliance and Nasdaq Cybersecurity Summit on Monday, October 16, 2017 in New York. Paige Schaffer, President and COO of Generali Global Assistance’s Identity and Digital Protection Services Global Unit, participated on a panel titled, “Can the Internet of Insecure Things be Saved?” During this panel, she joined with other industry thought leaders to discuss the opportunities and security risks posed by the increasing prevalence of connected devices, furthering Generali Global Assistance’s ongoing thought leadership campaign, which aims to educate businesses and consumers about the perils of identity theft.
Ms. Schaffer commented on today’s news, “From smart cities to autonomous cars and healthcare technology, the presence of connected devices will only continue to increase. The interconnectivity of these devices offers many exciting opportunities, but simultaneously provides countless opportunities for identity fraud and other cyber exploits. Organizations and consumers alike must be armed with the right information in order to combat these risks, and I was grateful to have the opportunity to join my fellow panelists in sharing our insights on these topics as the specter of fraud looms ever larger.”
Beyond this week’s Cybersecurity Summit, Generali Global Assistance is engaged in a variety of other initiatives throughout October in support of NCSAM. The Company was a featured guest in two Twitter Chats already this month on the themes of “Simple Steps to Online Safety” and “Cybersecurity in the Workplace,” whereby Generali Global Assistance engages with industry thought leaders on Twitter to discuss cyber issues and provide educational resources to the public domain. The Company will participate in three more Twitter Chats on October 19 and 26, and on November 1.

Additionally, the Company participated in several NCSAM events in both New York and Washington, D.C., and will continue to do so for the duration of the month. These events present opportunities to discuss critical cyber and identity theft related issues with leaders in business and government, as well as advocacy groups such as the National Cyber Security Alliance. Generali Global Assistance will continue to utilize its platform during these events to advocate for identity protection best practices in order to promote a more secure world for consumers and businesses.
Ms. Schaffer concluded, “As data breaches continue to occur at an alarming rate and identity theft continues to rise, it is critical that everyone stay informed about their role and responsibilities in mitigating these threats. Already during NCSAM, we have engaged with many industry leaders as we look to collectively tackle these issues. Critical in these discussions has been the push for government and the private sector to work more closely together to protect against identity theft, data breaches, and other cyber threats. I am encouraged by the conversations I have had this month, and look forward to the remainder of NCSAM and to leading the charge for a more secure society.”
